Earlier this month, Amazon announced that Prime members would receive Prime Day discounts at Amazon Fresh stores for the first time when this summer's Prime Day event rolls around, July 12-13. Now, the Seattle-based retail giant says that beginning June 29, Prime members will be able to save 20% on select everyday essentials at Amazon Fresh stores year-round. Members can receive the in-store savings by scanning the Amazon app or by paying with the credit card linked to their Prime account.
“We’re excited to launch the new Prime member savings benefit at Amazon Fresh stores today, offering 20% off everyday essentials across aisles,” Amazon Fresh VP Jeff Helbling said in a statement.“Prime members get the best of shopping, savings and entertainment every day from Amazon, and we’re thrilled to add another benefit to their membership.”
Members can begin saving 20% off starting Wednesday on products such as 365 by Whole Foods Market trimmed Brussels sprouts; 365 Everyday Value cage-free, non-GMO large brown eggs; Fresh-brand tail-on shrimp value packs; Fresh-brand broccoli stir-fry and Planet Oat Original Oatmilk. Members also can get 20% off savings on a rotating selection of prepared foods each week.
Chicago-based market researcher IRI reported earlier this month that around one-quarter of consumers (24%) in May said they're buying more private-label products as a way to cope with high inflation in groceries. And in April, the Private Label Manufacturers Association, citing IRI data, reported that private-label products had posted stronger sales growth than national-brand products in the first quarter of 2022.
