NGA Lauds Congress as Higher Swipe Fees Loom

NGA President and CEO Greg Ferrara wrote a letter on April 20 to lawmakers thanking them for their bipartisan, bicameral efforts urging Visa and Mastercard to do without their planned swipe fee rate increases. 

Jason Hart, CEO of Aldi U.S., penned an open letter on Aldi’s website saying “no matter what happens in the world around us, Aldi will always be the low-price leader in every community we serve.”

Through this partnership, Coborn's employees will have the ability to access their earned wages instantly to pay bills, spend, save or invest, all on their own schedule.

“This is just another way we’re helping make [our club members’] dollar stretch even further,” said Scott Ludwig, VP of membership.

To offer the new service, the Boone, Iowa.-based grocer has partnered with Blackhawk Network, which found through its own research that 73% of consumers want to be able to pay the same way they pay online and in-store.

Program recognizes innovations that meaningfully improve foodservice operations. Recipients will be on display at the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show, taking place May 21-24 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

The retailer saw higher-than-expected supply-chain and COVID costs in Q4, but mix management and advertising revenue are helping keep prices in check, executives say.

The agreement includes four perishable goods distribution centers and the related private transportation fleet from the longtime partner.

The retailer is emphasizing see-touch-try displays in redesigned and refreshed stores that invite customers to engage online while shopping in-store.
