What’s the best part of your job?
The most satisfying element of my career is the length of time I have had to watch consumers and their relationship with food transform over decades both in packaged foods and in the deli. The amount of change and the pace of change is incredible.
What inspires your leadership approach?
I take great pleasure watching the people who have worked with me and alongside me grow and develop. Teaching and developing talent is the greatest thing we can do.
What do you cherish most about being a part of the grocery business?
Without a doubt, the thing I cherish most about the grocery business is the relationships and how the food industry is very much a family. While the industry is expansive, there is a feeling of tightness and a bonding process that really keeps you in it. When you can go anywhere in the country and reconnect with people you called on or people with whom you worked and they are truly interested on how you and your family are doing—that’s just awesome.
Favorite food: Turkey (and also my mom’s pot roast).
