What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The grocery business is and always has been a people business. Information, data, products, trends, etc. will always change our direction and decisions, but the interaction of people will always exist.

What inspires your leadership approach?

There is no better feeling than seeing someone you helped in their early careers succeed with the approach and tools you taught them. I’ve been fortunate enough to see many people I’ve worked with reach goals in their life and call me to attribute their success to the things they learned through my guidance.

What do you value most about being a part of the grocery business?

I followed in my father’s footsteps—big shoes to fill by the way—entering the food business and actually working among the same people he did. One day he called me and said how proud he was of me and that I was no longer “Frank Nardi’s son.” Now, he was known as “Thom Nardi’s dad.” The food business allowed me that achievement.
