The National Grocers Association (NGA) announced that Terence Huie has joined its government relations department as a manager of its political action committee, its Grocers PAC and its grassroots advocacy efforts. He joined NGA on Oct. 30.
“Terence’s experience in managing PAC and grassroots accounts for companies, trade associations and nonprofits will help NGA continue to advance its advocacy efforts to ensure policies that better serve independent grocers,” said Chris Jones, NGA’s VP of government relations and counsel. “With critical issues front and center in 2020, Terence joins our team at an important time for Main Street grocers.”
Huie most recently was associate VP of client relations for DDC Public Affairs, where he managed PAC and grassroots accounts for a variety Fortune 500 companies, trade associations and nonprofits. He received his undergraduate degree in government and international politics from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., in 2015.
NGA also announced that it has retained the services of Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Matz PC (OFW), a reputable Washington, D.C.-based law firm that provides legal and regulatory representation on food and agriculture law and policy. OFW will be assisting NGA and its members with food safety and food labeling standards.
“With regulatory uncertainty on issues impacting independent grocers, such as CBD or food labeling, we are pleased to attain the legal services of OFW to provide assistance and resources to our members,” said Greg Ferrara, NGA president and CEO.
OFW provides legal and regulatory representation to companies, individuals and trade associations in the agriculture, food, medical device, drug and healthcare industries.
Earlier this week, WGB reported that NGA had also named Amy Kirtland of KeHE and Lori Raya of SpartanNash as the two newest members to their executive board.
