Target makes plans to hire 100K seasonal workers

That’s the same number the retailer enlisted for the holidays in 2021. Rival Walmart this week said it plans to hire 40,000 seasonal employees, a sharp drop from a year ago.

Workers at one of the grocer’s locations in Portland, Oregon, overwhelmingly approved plans Wednesday to join the independent New Seasons Labor Union.

That hourly pay level has become the norm in online advertising for potential hires, according to an analysis by Indeed.

Two butchers at the Houston-based grocer suffered severed fingertips this year while using unguarded band saws to cut meat, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration said.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration found obstructed exit routes, unstable merchandise stacks and more at several Georgia locations of the discount retailer.

Food and beverage stores added 8,600 jobs in July after they added 4,300 jobs in June, according to data released Friday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Workers in Hadley, Massachusetts, on Thursday voted to unionize. Trader Joe’s workers in Minneapolis and Boulder are also pushing to create union shops.
