EditNonfood derma e, makers of antioxidant skincare products, has announced its partnership with Vitamin Angels, a non-profit organization that distributes vitamins and minerals to at-risk children and mothers in need. Through this new partnership, derma e will donate $5,000 in 2014, supporting Vitamin Angels on its goal of providing lifesaving and life changing micronutrients to 40 million children worldwide, company officials announce.
Nearly one third of the world’s children under the age of five are deficient in vitamin A, leaving them with compromised immune systems that are unable to fight off illnesses including measles and respiratory infections, officials add. In 2013, Vitamin Angels distributed one dose of vitamin A twice a year to 30 million children in about 45 countries, including the United States. This dosage can help reduce the risk of early signs of blindness caused by vitamin A deficiency by 68% and child mortality rates by 24%.
“We are so proud to align our brand with an organization that shares our passion for health and wellness,” says Jennifer Norman, vice president of marketing for derma e. “derma e believes in the power of key nutrients like vitamin A. It is an honor to support Vitamin Angels as they distribute vitamin A twice a year to needy individuals all over the world, giving them the opportunity to lead healthier, more meaningful and productive lives.”
“At the heart of Vitamin Angels’ work is a passion to help moms and children thrive,” said Vitamin Angels founder and president, Howard Schiffer. “We are so pleased to have derma e joining us in this effort.”
