At a time when consumers are shopping less frequently in-store, AJ’s Fine Foods and parent company Bashas’ Family of Stores in Arizona, is offering AJ’s signature iced tea statewide for just one buck. Designed to draw shoppers inside and out of the heat, the deal is available now through Labor Day.

“Our iced tea is a fabulous favorite at AJ’s and with the temperatures in the excess of triple digits for the majority of the summer in Arizona, this was a great way for us to say ‘thanks’ to our customers during this challenging time and to encourage more folks to come give the teas a try while they cool down,” Ashley Shick, Bashas’ Family of Stores, told WGB.

AJ’s iced tea is one of the gourmet grocer’s signature offerings, with flavors that range from traditional black and green teas to sweeter black passion fruit or prickly pear. AJ’s also offers two caffeine-free iced tea flavors, including a decaf apricot and decaf pomegranate.

The dollar deal coincides with National Dollar Day on Aug. 8, which commemorates the day Congress established the U.S. monetary system in 1786.

One-dollar drinks is not the only way that Bashas’ Family of Stores is paying it forward in its communities. Its Food City banner in Yuma and San Luis, Ariz., is now incentivizing shoppers to make healthy choices, by expanding its participation in the Double Up Food Bucks Arizona program.

Double Up Food Bucks Arizona doubles the benefit of the SNAP food stamp program at participating locations. For every dollar that shoppers spend on healthy foods using a SNAP EBT card, they receive an additional dollar to spend on healthy foods during their next visit. Eligible healthy foods include fresh fruits and vegetables, food-producing plants and dried beans with no added ingredients.

“We’re always looking for ways to support and encourage healthy choices,” said Edward “Trey” Basha, CEO of Food City’s parent company Bashas’ Family of Stores, in a statement. “A program like this one, which encourages nutritious food consumption, builds on our commitment to provide access to healthy options for Arizonans. We look forward to helping this program grow to more of our store locations.”
