Access to Aldi’s grocery staples and cult favorites just got faster, as last-mile logistics provider DoorDash partnered with the discount grocer to offer on-demand delivery  to  nearly  all Aldi locations across 38 states, DoorDash announced Thursday.

The new relationship allows shoppers to shop for all their groceries, including the discount grocer’s highly sought-after Aldi Finds, from their phones.

“By partnering with DoorDash, we can conveniently bring our award-winning, fresh and affordable groceries to even more of our customers’ doors with the click of a button,” said Scott Patton, VP of national buying at Aldi. “Whether shopping for a weekly grocery haul or in need of a few extra ingredients for tonight’s dinner, our customers now have another way to shop Aldi for all their grocery needs.”

Grocery orders can be placed on-demand from local Aldi stores via the DoorDash marketplace app or website. All participating Aldi stores will be available on DashPass, DoorDash’s membership program that offers members $0 delivery fees. DashPass members can enjoy these benefits on all eligible orders of $35 or more from Aldi, the company said in a statement.

“Since launching grocery in 2020, Aldi has been one of our consumers’ most highly requested grocers. We’re thrilled to welcome the beloved Aldi brand to DoorDash,” said Fuad Hannon, VP of new verticals at DoorDash, in a statement. “Our partnership with Aldi provides customers access to the retailer’s affordable staples and cult favorites with the speed and reliability of DoorDash. Additionally, consumers can consolidate all their shopping needs from fresh foods to household essentials on DoorDash as their one-stop shop.”

With no rewards or loyalty system, Aldi continues to capture market share in the grocery space. Visits during the fourth fiscal quarter of 2022 were up 7.3% year over year, foot-traffic analytics firm found in its latest  report:  Aldi’s Success Highlights Growing Demand for Value Groceries.

Two states which captured the largest percentage of overall grocery visits for Aldi were Illinois and Florida followed by Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York,'s traffic data reported.

The DoorDash partnership is a significant move for Aldi. The discount grocer has historically focused on the in-store shopping experience, waiting until late 2018 to offer nationwide grocery delivery via Instacart.

With more than 90% of Aldi products coming from their own private label, Aldi’s offerings for value seeking shoppers has contributed to the discount grocer’s growth as private label had a record year in 2022.

Last week, Aldi took the top spot in winning brands  at the 2023 Product of the Year Awards.

With a business model that is “intentionally different,” the Batavia, Illinois-based chain also announced last October that it has been working on a new online shopping portal that would drive shoppers through its own channels, rather than solely through third-party platforms.

Founded in 1961, Aldi recently took the top spot as the most-trusted discount and small-format grocer, according to the 2023 Most Trusted Grocery Retailers in America list conducted by market research firm BrandSpark International in partnership with Winsight Grocery Business and Newsweek.
