Allegiance Names Wakefern Vet Zambo to Chief Marketing Post

Donna Zambo, who was instrumental in Wakefern’s e-commerce offering, has joined Allegiance Retail Services as VP and chief marketing officer. 

In her new role, Zambo will oversee information technology, marketing and advertising, digital marketing, and consumer analytics divisions for the Iselin, N.J.-based independent grocery services provider.

Zambo has more than 30 years of experience in the supermarket industry, most recently as director of e-commerce and analytics at Wakefern Food Corp., the ShopRite cooperative.

Prior to her eight-year tenure at Wakefern, Zambo spent more than 20 years at Pathmark in progressively responsible roles in marketing, advertising, loyalty marketing and consumer insights.

Allegiance also said that Kelly Davis has been appointed to the position of director of produce and floral. In this position, Davis will be responsible for directing, planning and organizing all functions of the produce and floral departments for the company.

Davis worked with Wakefern for 18 years in all aspects of produce procurement, operational activities and category management. She also held various merchandising roles in pricing, marketing and advertising.

In the mid-1980s, Davis worked for the U.S. Army in Fort Knox, Ky., where she was responsible for the administrative and clerical needs of a nine-person military intelligence division.

Allegiance Retail Services LLC supports independent supermarkets including Foodtown, Freshtown, Freshco, D’Agostino, La Bella Marketplace, Brooklyn Harvest, Market Fresh, Big Deal Food Market, Kissena Glatt Farms, Shop n Bag and JRs Fresh Foodtown with marketing, advertising, technological and merchandising support, as well as a full line of Foodtown private-label products.
