Nicole D’Amour Schneider has been appointed senior director of operations for Big Y Foods, the company said.
In her new role, D’Amour Schneider oversees Big Y’s five supermarket districts including its World Class Markets, Fresh Acres, Speciality Market and Table & Vine wine and liquor division. She reports to Richard Bossie, VP of store operations.
D’Amour Schneider, who began her new role Jan. 1, most recently was Big Y’s director of pharmacy, a role she held since 2013. She is a daughter of Donald D’Amour, chairman and CEO of the family-run company founded by brothers Paul and Gerald D’Amour in 1936.
She began working at Big Y in 1989 as a service clerk in its East Longmeadow, Mass., supermarket. In 1999, D’Amour Schneider was promoted to full-time assistant customer service manager, and to customer service manager the following year.
After completing the store manager training program, she was appointed as assistant store manager in Westfield, Mass., and in 2002 she was promoted to store manager in Enfield, Conn. In 2004, she took on the role of customer relationship manager, responsible for training, reinforcing and executing Big Y’s customer service culture and engagement programs, including creative and suggestive selling teams and group problem solving.
D’Amour Schneider is a 1997 graduate of Connecticut College. She spent two years teaching high school history at the Canterbury School in New Milford, Conn., before beginning her full-time career at Big Y in 1999.
She has also served on the board of trustees for the Canterbury School since 2008 and is a member of the board’s executive committee. Nicole and her husband Todd reside in Connecticut with their three children.
Springfield, Mass.-based Big Y operates 80 locations in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
