Ann Arbor, Michigan-based eGrowcery announced on Wednesday it is partnering with Great Lakes Foods, a wholesaler of food and nonfood products to supermarkets in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois to help its retailers go digital.

The eGrowcery platform, which serves as an omnichannel solution that integrates with back-office/point-of-sale systems while enabling retailers to personalize their shopper experience, said in a statement that operators are expected to deploy the system later this year.

“We needed to provide our retail partners with eCommerce technology that makes it as easy for them to engage with their shoppers online as it is in the store,” said Tom Jushka, president of Great Lakes Foods, in a statement.

Great Lakes Foods, a full-line supplier of wholesale meat, produce, dairy, frozen, private-label, bakery and deli products for supermarkets and convenience stores, said it chose eGrowcery because of the platform’s simple integration with current POS technology as well as eGrowcery’s ability to handle various stores sizes and delivery services—especially for Great Lakes customers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

eGrowcery CEO Patrick Hughes said in a statement that "our solution will help Great Lakes’ retailers compete more effectively with the other stores in their markets at a very reasonable cost." The company, he said, is "committed to giving retailers all the tools they need, including marketing support and training to make each deployment a great success."

In other recent news, eGrowcery announced a partnership with Thibodaux, Louisiana-based Rouses Markets to expand the grocer’s e-commerce and convenience for curbside pickup. “It’s like having your favorite Rouses team member as your own personal shopper,” said Donny Rouse, CEO of Rouses Markets.

The e-commerce platform also partnered recently with Door Dash to allow access to Door Dash’s logistics network putting control and data ownership back in the hands of the retailers.
