Earlier this month, Brookshire Grocery Co. opened its second culinary-focused Fresh by Brookshire’s concept, which strives to be the best place to shop, dine, explore and taste, the Tyler, Texas-based retailer said in a release. At 5100 E. Interstate 30 in Fate, Texas, the 66,000-square-foot store is every bit as focused on food as the first location, which opened in 2011 in Tyler. Led by General Manager Kevin Westbrook, the Fate store features chef-prepared foods and will play host to special events and entertainment for the whole family. “The seeds of the partnership between the city of Fate and Fresh were first planted in 2013 and have been cultivated over the years to become the fruit of this very special store we see today,” Fate Mayor David Billings said. Taqueria by Fresh is just one of the prepared foods options at the Fate store. It serves up tacos and salads made with chicken, beef, chorizo, carnitas or beef brisket. Other prepared foods options include an authentic Asian and sushi counter and brick-oven authentic-Italian pizza.
Outside the Fate store is an outdoor grill and bar with patio dining and an on-site park with children’s playground. “Fresh is so much more than a store,” Trent Brookshire, chief operating officer for Brookshire Grocery Co., said when the store was announced in 2020. “We find that kids, and especially their moms and dads, absolutely love the store for so many reasons.”
The Fate store opened with a team of 250 employee-partners, with positions still available at the store. Brookshire Grocery Co., which was recognized as a Great Place to Work for 2020-2022, offers professional development and comprehensive health benefit plans, along with paid time off, stock ownership, a 401K retirement plan, incentives, educational scholarships and an emergency relief fund for employee-partners. The family-owned grocer has more than 200 stores throughout Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma under the Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods, Fresh by Brookshire’s, Spring Market and Reasor’s (acquired earlier this year) banners.
