A 92,000-square-foot Hy-Vee store in Maple Grove, Minn., opened Oct. 15 after a year of construction. It is the 12th store in the Twin Cities metro area and features a large, open dining area for fast-casual dining. Features include a full-service bar; a fresh salad bar; charcuterie; specialty cheese and artisan bread; in-store chefs; and cooking demonstration stations. The prepared foods area also is home to Hickory House Comfort Foods and Mia Pizza.
A Sweet Shoppe offers gourmet sweets, decadent pastries and cakes, with candy options spanning from the gourmet to bygone favorites. The candy shop also features a free unicorn mechanical ride and a kiosk for photos. On the flip side of candy, the store also is home to a large HealthMarket and bulk foods section with more than 7,000 items and 650 fresh produce items, including 125 Homegrown and organic items.
Maple Grove also has a large departments for home, housewares and gifting. Some of the items featured in the photos in Hy-Vee’s Seasons magazine can be found for purchase in the departments, noted VP of Communications Tina Potthoff in a local news report. While Hy-Vee is not trying to move away from groceries, it makes sense to sell both food and the items needed to cook them, said CEO Randy Edeker.
The store introduced a new updated floral department as well as an expanded beauty department, featuring Basin, a beauty brand specializing in all-natural bath and body products. Beauty experts will create a fun environment for customers to find their favorite Basin bath bombs, cut soap and body products, as well as several high-end cosmetic and fragrance brand offerings.
