The Kroger Co. this week opened the doors of its long-awaited downtown flagship store near its Cincinnati headquarters, bringing along with it the first food hall in any Kroger store.
The company says the offering—dubbed the On the Rhine Eatery—embodies the chain’s alignment with foodie culture and speaks to the ambitions of its mission to “redefine the customer experience” under its ongoing Restock initiative.
Kroger also sees the store as raising the profile of Cincinnati’s food culture, incorporating local restaurant brands and flavors from its own kitchens as it also hosts a second outpost of the chain’s burgeoning 1883 restaurant concept.
Here's an inside look of the new store.
The On the Rhine Eatery also marks a second location for Kroger’s proprietary Kitchen 1883 restaurant. Named for the year of the company’s founding, it specializes in “new American comfort food.” The new location includes a full-service bar and will also serve breakfast.
