Nob Hill Foods opened its first location in Santa Clara, Calif., earlier this year, featuring natural and organic products, local offerings and a coffee, wine and craft beer bar.
The 24,000-square-foot store—which is owned and operated by parent company Raley’s Family of Fine Stores, based in West Sacramento, Calif.—serves as the anchor retail tenant at Monticello Apartment Homes, a luxury apartment community. The location marks Raley’s first mixed-use property where residential units are located above the retail store, providing an opportunity to offer convenient groceries to nearby residents.
Expanding on the community-centered location, the Nob Hill Foods store boasts an enhanced gathering area, featuring fresh-brewed gourmet coffee and specialty beverages from Peet’s, as well as wine and local craft beer with several rotating taps.
The cafe area includes indoor and outdoor seating, both equipped with free Wi-Fi.
“Our goal is to create a store environment that brings the community together and offers a gathering spot for friends and families,” says Chelsea Minor, director of PR and public affairs at Raley’s.
The prepared foods section includes ready-to-go meals, an expanded self-serve hot bar, made-to-order sandwiches and paninis. and a self-serve salad bar with fresh offerings. Convenient ordering kiosks allow shoppers to order customizable sandwiches ahead of pickup time.
The store also boasts sustainable, energy-saving practices, such as LED lighting throughout and motion sensors for lighting refrigerated cases.
