Kowalski’s Markets is expanding its existing e-commerce program to include mobile self-checkout, which will enable shoppers to scan and pay from their personal devices in-store.

Kowalski’s On-the-Go program, which currently offers online ordering, curbside pickup and home delivery, is powered by GrocerKey’s mobile self-checkout platform. The Woodbury, Minn.-based retailer will announce its frictionless checkout experience on its website when the service goes live.

With 11 stores in the Twin Cities, Kowalski’s tapped GrocerKey in 2017 to digitally enable its brand and its offers to enhance both its in-store and online shopping experience, which includes online browsing, e-commerce, home delivery, mobile apps and pick, click and collect—and now, mobile self-checkout.

“Kowalski’s stays ahead of the competition by balancing a new, rich digital experience with a superb in-store atmosphere,” Jeremy Neren, CEO of GrocerKey, said in a statement. The expansion of Kowalski’s On-The-Go program and the forthcoming rollout of its mobile self-checkout application, Neren said, will help add more “value to shoppers at any and all of their eleven stores throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro [market].”
