Schnuck Markets said it would open a new format in Columbia, Mo., this summer. EatWell, A Natural Food Store by Schnucks, will be focused on consumers prioritizing health and wellness, natural foods and the occasional splurge.
The 42,000-square-foot store was a former Lucky’s Market location that Schnucks purchased earlier this year as part of Lucky’s bankruptcy auction and is currently being remodeled for the new concept. EatWell will be the second Schnucks location in Columbia.
“We’re celebrating 50 years of serving Columbia customers, and their loyalty over these last five decades makes this a perfect place for Schnucks to try something new with our EatWell store,” said Schnucks Chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck. “Our mission as a company is to nourish people’s lives, and we’re excited to be able to build on that mission by launching a store where it’s easy to make healthier choices while still also being able to pick up a few decadent treats for those special occasions that may be worth the extra calories.”
Along with natural food items, the store will feature organic and local items, with a natural living department in which one of the 80 teammates can assist customers with choosing options that fit a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Many of the store’s teammates are former Lucky’s employees who joined Schnucks with the purchase of the store.
