SpartanNash on Monday announced Nicole Zube as the company’s new SVP and chief human resources officer.

Zube comes to the Grand Rapids, Michigan-based company from a decade with the Kellogg Company, where she most recently served as head of HR for the U.S. commercial division. Before that, she held HR posts at Procter & Gamble.

“Nicole is an accomplished people leader with invaluable experience managing a large-scale, global workforce within the food industry,” CEO Tony Sarsam said in a statement. “Throughout her career, Nicole has demonstrated passion and commitment to creating an outstanding associate experience.”

SpartanNash said Zube’s hiring is part of the “remarkable transformation” of the company’s leadership team over the past two years, since Sarsam was named CEO.

In the years since, SpartanNash has largely rebuilt its executive ranks, adding Jason Monaco as CFO in March 2021, as well as David Petko as supply chain chief and Masiar Tayebi as chief strategy officer not long after.

SpartanNash works with a broad group, including independent and chain grocers, e-commerce retailers, U.S. military commissaries and exchanges, and the company’s 147 brick-and-mortar supermarkets that operate under the banners of Family Fare, Martin’s Super Markets and D&W Fresh Market.
