Target is shining a spotlight on its digital and e-commerce offerings with a promotion that offers deals on Shipt orders and memberships as well as extra savings through its Cartwheel service, which allows shoppers to browse in-store deals or scan items right in the aisle to find current offers.
The promotion could even further boost Shipt membership, which has more than tripled over the past year, with orders and revenue also up, said John Mulligan, Target's COO, in a call with investors last month.
Shoppers that have not yet signed up for Shipt, which the Minneapolis-based retailer acquired last year for $550 million, are being offered $50 off the regularly $99 annual membership for the first time in Target's run with the service. Additionally, current Shipt members will receive a $15 credit on their accounts if they spend $100 or more on same-day delivery during the course of the weeklong promotion.
The Target Fun Run sale will offer "best-of" Cartwheel promotions such as 20% off select home, apparel, food and health and beauty items in-store, as well as deals on Shipt delivery items, starting Sept. 16.
The retailer will also promote its loyalty program, offering exclusive coupons to REDcard holders and adding a $30 off a purchase of $100 incentive for those who sign up during the sale.
