Wynshop Aims to Make Regional Grocers ‘Wildly Successful’ in Digital, CEO Says

Partners with Shipt to expand same-day delivery

Wynshop (formerly ThryveAI), a provider of digital commerce for local store-based retailers, has partnered with Shipt, the shopping and delivery company, to offer a fully integrated solution for regional grocers to offer same-day delivery to their shoppers. 

The partnership, Miami-based Wynshop said, makes it easy for grocers to offer their customers same-day delivery provided by Shipt for orders made through the grocers’ own digital storefronts on Wynshop’s platform. Shoppers can order directly from their local grocer and have their groceries delivered in as little as one hour, while grocers will benefit from having the most advanced e-commerce functionality possible that brings together multiple fulfillment solutions into one easy-to-use platform, the company added.

While demand for online grocery and delivery continues to climb, many grocers still have a long way to go in terms of streamlining the research and discovery process on their digital channels, finds WGB’s third annual Digital Benchmark Study with Incisiv. As grocers look to expand their digital capabilities, Wynshop aims to bridge the gap between consumer demand and efficient fulfillment and delivery.

Shipt, which implemented its largest nationwide expansion in three years in September, is an independently operated, wholly owned subsidiary of Target Corp. Through a community of Shipt Shoppers and its app, Birmingham, Ala.-based Shipt provides personal shopping and delivery and is available to 80% of households in more than 5,000 U.S. cities. Shipt offers access to a variety of stores and product categories, including fresh foods, household essentials, wellness products, office and pet supplies.

Catapulting vs. Catching Up

When asked what makes Wynshop different from other third-party platforms, Moses replied, “Wynshop has developed e-commerce technology that is a full generation ahead of all other solutions in order to catapult grocers ahead of the biggest retailers, not just help them catch up. Our flexible microservices-based, API-ready, cloud-native, and headless architecture, along with our carefully curated ecosystem of innovative partners enable grocers to meet the rapidly changing demands of the marketplace.”

Moses also said Wynshop’s digital commerce platform solves “industry-specific business problems for grocery retailers” with its simple, scalable and sustainable platform that “drives online commerce profitability through cloud computing,” which can save 35% to 60% on total cost of ownership vs. on-premise servers, he added.

Wynshop, which currently works with brands such as United Supermarkets, Wakefern, Save-On-Foods, Musgrave and Price Chopper, said it will begin expanding Shipt’s same-day delivery capabilities to its platform in early 2022.

“Wynshop reduces fulfillment costs by 67% with optimized, multi-order picking software and highly efficient, AI-supported orchestration of curbside pickup,” added Moses. “Additionally, Wynshop helps grocers increase the number of items picked per hour by 300% and improves profit per order by 37%.”
