December was a big month for discount grocers, with Aldi and Grocery Outlet leading the pack of new store openings as 2022 ended.
WGB’s new store openings map for December shows 17 new grocery stores for the month, with the biggest concentration of new locations along the Eastern Seaboard.
Six of the new stores are Aldi locations and five are Grocery Outlets. Publix also opened a couple of stores.
In November, WGB’s map featured 15 new grocery openings.
