Southern California grocer Gelson’s has opened its first West Los Angeles location.
The focal point of the modern, 33,000-square-foot space, which opened on Wednesday, is a bar that serves wine, sushi and tapas. The area has indoor and outdoor seating.
Retail foodservice takes centerstage at the new Gelson’s, which also features a Wolfgang Puck Express build-your-own pizza bar and a café and bakery along with a salad bar, hot food and soup bar, and poke bar.
The store was designed by Shook Kelley, a firm that has previously worked on new and renovated Gelson’s locations.
The West L.A. Gelson’s also includes a full-service deli, butcher shop and produce areas, as well as an extensive wine and cheese section.
“The demand has long existed for Gelson’s in West L.A., and we are excited to be the grocery anchor in this new mixed-use development,” Gelson’s President and CEO John Bagan said in a statement. “We have carefully growth the Gelson’s brand for more than seven decades. This is a long-awaited milestone for us, which we look forward to celebrating with the local community.
Gelsons, which was founded in 1951, operates 28 stores throughout Southern California.
