A Look Inside Giant Co.’s New Philadelphia Store

The Giant Co. on June 24 opened a new 50,000-square-foot store in Philadelphia that emphasizes fresh, with “farm fresh” garden produce, fresh meat and seafood and baked goods. The store at 510 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, is one of two new stores the Carlisle, Pa.-based retailer recently said it would open in the area. A second location will open July 1 at 1025 Second St. Pike in Richboro, Penn.

The North Broad Street is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week and employs about 150 full- and part-time workers. Click through for an inside look at the new store.

Through clear and can’t-miss signage, the store calls attention to local produce sourced from nearby farmers.

The Land & Sea department features fresh meat and 100% sustainably sourced seafood. The store offers free steaming and seasoning with a seafood purchase as well.

An extensive Specialty Cheese department features varieties such as Gouda, havarti, Cheddar, blue, feta, Italian and more.

In the Bakery, the Giant Co. offers artisan breads made with simple ingredients and “timeless recipes,” according to signage. The department also offers fresh rolls, cakes and doughnuts.

The store has a Beer & Wine Eatery with slushie options.

The North Broad Street store also offers delivery and pickup of grocery essentials through Giant Direct. Other highlights include, a Starbucks, sushi made in-store and a hot foods section with smoked meats.
