Balls Food Stores is bringing a new Price Chopper location to North Kansas City, Missouri, later this year, the grocer has confirmed.
The store will be located at the site of a former Hy-Vee, at the intersection of North Oak and Englewood. That’s about a mile north of Balls Food’s current location at 4820 N. Oak Trafficway in Kansas City. A Hy-Vee spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment.
The 77,000-square-foot store will include “substantial upgrades” in the following departments: meat, seafood, bakery, delicatessen, grocery, liquor and floral, according to an email response from Balls Food Stores.
The store will also include a drive-thru pharmacy, sushi, Tippins pies and expanded services for the community, the grocer said.
The store will support Balls Food’s sustainability goals, which include a zero-waste policy for excess food, use of LED lighting throughout the store, high-efficiency refrigeration and a recycling program.
"Balls Food Stores will be hiring additional teammates for the new location, who will be able to enjoy a number of great benefits including 10% off your groceries,” the company said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to serve the Northland community since we opened the original Price Chopper location there in 1978.
The Kansas City-based supermarket chain operates 25 stores in and around Kansas City under the Hen House Market, Price Chopper, Sun Fresh and Payless Discount Foods banners.
