Sprouts Farmers Market, Giant Eagle, Weis Markets and The Raley’s Companies all have new or expanded partnerships with DoorDash, the on-demand grocery delivery provider announced Tuesday.
In recent years, the San Francisco-based platform has focused on expanding beyond restaurant delivery. Today, DoorDash works with more than 75,000 non-restaurant retail stores across North America, the company said.
“DoorDash’s mission is to be the one-stop shop for all local commerce needs for consumers, and that starts with bringing every business on Main Street online,” said Shanna Prevé, the company’s VP of business development, in a statement. “DoorDash is hyper-focused on selection, and we’re excited about the significant progress we’ve made towards connecting every grocery, convenience and retail store to every local consumer.”
Starting next month, shoppers at more than 375 Sprouts stores can order DoorDash delivery of organic and natural foods.
Giant Eagle stores in Columbus, Ohio, will be the first on the DoorDash marketplace, the company said.
Mid-Atlantic grocer Weis Markets is expanding its partnership with DoorDash. The tech platform will now power first-party delivery for Weis, in addition to offering it on the DoorDash marketplace.
DoorDash announced its partnership with The Raley’s Companies earlier this month, to offer grocer delivery from more than 213 Raley’s and Bashas’ stores across Northern California, Nevada and Arizona.
DoorDash said it is seeing significant results as it works to ramp up its grocery delivery, with the number of grocery customers using the platform increasing 130% over the past year.
Retailer studies have shown that DoorDash is 70% to 90% incremental to grocers’ existing customer base, the company said.
