SpartanNash Co. said it was making a concerted effort to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce and leading the charge will be Shaquanda Gordon, named VP of human resources, talent and diversity, a newly created position for the Grand Rapid, Mich.-based food wholesale distributor and retailer. She will report to Yvonne Trupiano, EVP and chief human resources and corporate affairs and communications officer.
Under Gordon’s direction, the company said HR, talent and diversity teams would develop diversity and inclusion, talent acquisition and talent development strategies to create a high-performing and inclusive culture.
“The combination of the oversight for talent acquisition and development and diversity and inclusion will ensure our commitment to diversity and inclusion is present in all people decisions,” said Trupiano.
Prior to joining SpartanNash on Sept. 8, Gordon was Gordon Food Services’ VP, North American human resources. She also has served in progressive HR leadership roles at Perrigo, Meijer and Priority Health. She is a certified diversity executive, professional in human resources, and Society of Human Resources certified professional.
