What’s the best part of your job?
I’m an entrepreneur. I’m most productive and genuinely content when I’m able to color outside of the lines, take calculated risks, seize opportunities and promptly address issues. Helping build a customer-focused business that expects our people to be collaborative, team players while also being self-starting, resourceful and inventive is what gets me out of bed each morning.
What inspires your leadership approach?
I believe you are a product of your environment. Therefore, my approach to leadership is inspired by many important people who have nurtured, mentored and developed me throughout my life and career. Growing up in a CPG household, my parents instilled in me certain ideals and concepts which were beyond classic “family values” that became core, life and business operating principles. I’ve had the benefit of shadowing true CPG industry pioneers and visionaries and have worked for some of the best leaders in the business. The examples I’ve learned from many great colleagues and customers have equally shaped my approach to business and leadership. Every new relationship offers new opportunities to learn and grow.
What do you cherish most about being a part of the industry?
I heard the CEO of one of our retail customers speak recently and he described our industry as being a “noble” one. He went on to chronicle the enormous impact we collectively make on our communities and the world, every day. The recent pandemic is just one more, clear example of the mission-critical role we play as retailers and suppliers. What I cherish most about being a part of this industry is working every day with good, honorable people toward accomplishing important, noble results.
