What’s the best part of your job?

Because I really hate being blindsided, I try hard to better prepare leaders for the transformative and fast-moving future around the corner. It is incredibly rewarding to help open-minded leaders build strong, sustainable paths and more adaptive capacities that add value to everyone’s lives, now and for decades ahead.

What inspires your leadership approach?

Because the 21st century will be shaped by new tools, new awareness and new business models, we need a big shift in the way we lead. I describe it as moving from the static, closed, hierarchical noun of leadership to a much more dynamic, inclusive and caring verb of “leadering”—one that improves our ability to sense and respond meaningfully to ever-changing terrain.

What do you cherish most about being a part of the industry?

While I am not a direct player in the industry, my ideas (and foresight nudges) have welcomed, and I learn so much about what it really takes to make these big changes from those on the front lines every day. Unlearning what has made us successful in the past and trusting we can do things differently to stay successful ahead takes a lot of courage. I really admire those willing to step up to the new edge of tomorrow’s expectations.
