Kroger Announces Dairy Expansion

The grocer is expanding its Tamarack Farms Dairy to support the implementation of an aseptic milk line, capable of manufacturing products such as half and half, heavy whipping cream, coffee creamers and Carbmaster milk.

The 300,000-square-foot customer fulfillment center will be located in the Denver metro area.

Under the terms of the agreement, Unique Logistics International said it will serve as an ocean transport and logistics provider for the grocery retailer from the Asia Pacific region to North America through April 2023.

The Cincinnati-based grocer said it has collaborated with five EV specialists, including EVgo, Tesla and Volta, to install more than 350 vehicle chargers in 10 states, with more to come.

The company says it now expects identical sales growth without fuel to be in the range of 2.5% to 3.5% over the full year.

In an email to WGB, a Kroger spokesperson said: “The Kroger board and management team remain focused on executing our strategy that is creating significant, sustainable value for our associates, customers, communities and shareholders."

The grocer's 60,000-square-foot facility in Miami will employ up to 200 associates and will collaborate with its fulfillment hub in Groveland, Fla.

Powered by Market Wagon, the digital platform offers customers in and around Atlanta access to more than 1,150 local food products that "cannot yet be found at Kroger stores."
