7 New Frozen Favorites
By Steve Dwyer on Apr. 18, 2023Evidence that frozen ice cream, yogurt and novelties have become a year-round indulgence can be seen with a growing number of national and local scoop shops expanding their business cycle beyond peak and semi-peak months. Ice cream makers see the trend and are delivering with new product innovation across all seasons but are revving up the pipeline in spring.
Blue Bunny added to its minis line with Mini Bars, which offer “all the fun and crunch of a full-size bar in a smaller, snackable size,” the company said. Dipped in a cookie crunch coating with swirls of additional flavor inside, Mini Bars flavors include Vanilla Caramel Crunch, Chocolate Cookie Crumble and Strawberry Shortcake.
“We knew we wanted to grow our ‘Mini’ platform with a lineup that offered the same snackable indulgence as the cones,” said Jeremy Hrynewycz, brand marketing director for Blue Bunny (Wells Enterprises). The supplier is also launching a take on soft-serve ice cream with Soft scoopables, which are “easy-to-scoop and soft straight from the freezer,” the company said.
Enlightened, the first and largest brand within Beyond Better Foods, a New York City-based company, launched a Frozen Greek Yogurt Bar product line in two flavors: Caramel Brownie and Mint & Cookies.
The bars are made with premium Greek yogurt to deliver a balance of sweetness and tanginess, while offering nutritional benefits of Greek yogurt. Regarded as the lowest sugar Greek yogurt bar on the market at 80 calories and 3 grams of added sugar per bar, the bar has prebiotic and probiotic benefits and 5 grams of protein per serving.
“Our customers have been asking us for years to deliver a Greek yogurt version of our ice cream bars,” said Michael Shoretz, founder and CEO of Enlightened. “We worked to create a product that not only tastes great but also offers a healthier alternative to traditional ice cream bars.”

Halo Top
Halo Top Frozen Yogurt Pops are made with Icelandic Skyr-style yogurt and are packed with real fruit and granola. The treat blends yogurt, granola and fruit for an on-the-go snack. At 110 calories and 4 grams of protein per pop, Halo Top Frozen Yogurt Pops come in two flavors: Triple Berry (yogurt, granola and blueberries) and Strawberry (frozen yogurt, granola and strawberries).
Creamalicious
Creamalicious Coffee Creamers (Creamalicious LLC) are packaged in 16-ounce bottles and feature signature flavors Bay’bee Lis’sen White Chocolate Blondie and Uncle Charles Brown Suga Bourbon Cake. The African American- and female-owned ice cream and coffee creamer company also offers Creamalicious Ice Creams pints in seven flavors: Slap Yo’ Momma Banana Pudding, Aunt Poonie’s Caramel Pound Cake, Granma Gigi’s Sweet Potato Pie and others.
Wicked Kitchen
Wicked Kitchen (Wicked Foods) added Birthday Cake plant-based ice cream pints to its portfolio. Birthday Cake Ice Cream is made with indulgent vegan cake pieces and rainbow sprinkles.
Ben & Jerry’s
A take on the ethnic delicacy, Ben & Jerry’s newest flavor, Churray for Churros!, debuted in March. The ice cream pint is made with a crunchy texture, cinnamon and sugar and mimics churros in an ice cream format. Churray for Churros! comes in pints for an SRP range of $5.99 to 6.49.
Häagen-Dazs
Debuting in February 2023, Häagen-Dazs rolled out Butter Cookie Cone, a Rainforest Alliance-certified, premium indulgent frozen novelty consisting of a thick, crunchy butter cookie rolled into a single cone. Cones are lined with rich chocolate inside and filled with one of four Häagen-Dazs ice cream flavors: Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate or Coffee. Butter Cookie Cone is available in 4-count boxes.
GoodPop
GoodPop launched its first line of fudgy oatmilk-based frozen dessert bars in Fudge n’ Vanilla Crunch; Double Chocolate Fudge; Fudge n’ Caramel Crunch; and Mint n’ Fudge Chip flavors. Varieties are either dipped in chocolate fudge or include fudge chips. They are non-dairy, gluten-free and Non-GMO Project Verified at 130 calories or fewer. Bars come four to a box for an SRP of $5.99.
Killer Creamery
Killer Creamery launched four sugar-free ice cream sandwiches. Products in the lineup are also gluten-free and Keto-friendly, with flavors such as Mint Chocolate Chunk Sammie, Chocolate Sammie, Salted Caramel Sammie and Vanilla Sammie.
