On May 31, Rouses Markets unveiled a brand-new, 53,000-square-foot store in Daphne, Ala., its eighth store in the lower half of the state. The new location offers shoppers a full-service bakery, butcher shop, floral department, seafood market and other amenities.
The store, a former Winn-Dixie site, is part of a growth strategy that has also seen Rouses Markets expand by acquiring stores from smaller area competitors.
The new store boasts what Rouses calls a "farmers market array of seasonal and local produce," with more than 100 different types of organic fresh fruit and vegetables. Papaya, coconuts and other summer delicacies are plentiful for produce lovers.
Rouses also stocked its newest location with what it calls the largest selection of wine, beer and imported and domestic cheeses on the Gulf Coast.
To help celebrate the grand opening, Rouses Markets has stocked aisles with circulars that act as a guide to what's new while emphasizing the company's local family ownership.
Donny Rouse, CEO of Rouses Markets, shakes hands with Daphne Mayor Dane Haygood. Recently, Thibodaux, La.-based Rouses Markets announced its intention to develop a new warehouse complex in its native Terrebonne Parish in Louisiana.

Whether it's for a big family gathering or a summer picnic with a ton of guests, Rouses offers customers the option to buy in bulk anything from "pasta by the pound" to nuts, whole-bean coffee, meat, fish and more.
