In what the company called a next step for grocery e-commerce, online grocer Peapod has partnered with StorePower to launch its first text-to-order grocery application, Chat-to-Cart.
The move comes after the launches of Peapod's mobile app and voice-activated Alexa capability. The new platform allows shoppers to use their phones' text feature to type, speak and use popular emoji icons to create their Peapod carts.
"At Peapod, we have always been committed to being the ultimate convenience for our customers," Cat De Merode, Peapod's VP of product said in a statement. "The Chat-to-Cart platform was designed for the busy shopper that relies on their mobile device whether at home or on-the-go. Now, instead of texting a family member to pick up an extra gallon of milk, you can text Peapod and let us do the work. The texting functionality complements the Peapod mobile app and desktop website for one seamless ordering process."
The platform allows the list to be shared across multiple family members, and synched with voice-activated assistants for voice-to-text features.
