Schnuck Markets this week said it was now offering e-receipts to its Schnucks Rewards customers, touting it as a means of reducing contact and waste, while encouraging new membership.

The St. Louis-based operator of 112 Schnuck Market stores in four states said its membership shoppers now have the option to access their receipts via email or the Scnucks Rewards mobile app.

“In addition to reducing a potential touch point when our checker hands a receipt to a customer, e-receipts also encourage Schnucks Rewards app adoption, which, in turn, helps us better understand our customers and their preferences,” Chace MacMullan, Schnucks’ director of digital experience, said in emailed comments to WGB. “The use of e-receipts also helps us support green initiatives by limiting paper waste.”

Customers can elect the new e-receipt option using the settings menu on their app, or when logged into Schnucks’ web page.

“Our customers and teammates continue to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic,” MacMullan added in a statement. “As with the many other precautions customers see at our stores, e-receipts are another option we would ask them to consider to reduce touch points for customers and teammates.”
