As part of its ambitious mid-Atlantic expansion, Wegmans is hiring for its next two North Carolina store openings (Chapel Hill and Wake Forest) set to open in February and May 2021, respectively. The new locations mark the company’s third and fourth stores in the state since it opened its Raleigh store in September 2019. Wegmans is looking for nearly 900 employees to join its Chapel Hill and Wake Forest teams.
Wegmans Chapel Hill Store Manager Rick Walters and his team are readying to hire nearly 300 part-time positions for the 99,000-square-foot store located at 1810 Fordham Boulevard. These openings span a variety of positions across every department in the store, from chefs to customer service representatives. Hiring for 165 full-time jobs began in August and select openings remain, such as cooks and overnight grocery. In total, the Chapel Hill store will employ nearly 450 people, some of whom will be internal, transferring from Raleigh and West Cary, the company said.
“While our opening is still a few months away, we have already met many great applicants and are excited to continue building our team,” said Walters in a statement. “Wegmans has a long-standing reputation of being a great place to work and that comes from hiring employees who demonstrate the values our company is based on, such as respect, empowerment and high standards.”
Wegmans' Wake Forest store, located at 11051 Ligon Mill Road, has begun the process of hiring nearly 200 full-time positions for the 104,000-square-foot store, set to open in May. Available full-time positions include everything from entry-level management to culinary professionals.
“As our company expands in North Carolina, there is a big opportunity for employees to advance their careers,” said Wegmans Wake Forest Store Manager Patrick McGuinness in a release. “My team is looking for candidates who share our passion for food and are eager to learn and grow with us. We have many employees who begin in one position and move into different roles depending on their interest.”
Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans, which has been named to the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list for all 23 years since the list’s inception, said it offers competitive pay and benefits, flexible scheduling and “a workplace known for a caring, family atmosphere.”
