Martin’s Super Market, a SpartanNash-owned banner, marked the opening of its new store in the River District development of Elkhart, Ind., with a grand opening on Oct. 7.
Located at 575 E. Jackson Blvd., the new store replaces the original East Jackson Martin’s that opened in 1990. It offers area residents a few new services, including Martin’s Signature Smokehouse BBQ in the Side Door Deli, Martin’s Grill in the service meat department and an upgraded Bake Shoppe with Martin’s Signature Bagels and store-made cream cheese.
“ ‘My Martin’s’ is a phrase we hear often from our customers. Every day, over 3,000 Martin’s associates in the greater Michiana area proudly serve their friends and neighbors like family,” said Amy Simeri-McClellan, SVP of Martin’s Super Markets. “This new store features services you have come to know and expect in our stores, in addition to a few new concepts. We look forward to the city of Elkhart making this ‘their Martin’s’ by utilizing the store amenities and Side Door Deli space for community needs and safe gatherings.”
Martin’s Signature Smokehouse BBQ offers premium meats slow-roasted over smokey, cherry wood logs. Rib tips, brisket, burnt ends, pulled pork, baby back ribs, roasted chicken and smoked wings are available, with a variety of sauces, including traditional, Carolina and bourbon.
And don’t forget the sides. Corn muffin tops, baked beans, mac and cheese and more can complete any meal.
In celebration of the store’s grand opening, a BBQ event was held Oct. 13 in which customers could sample signature Smokehouse items.
Other store highlights include a community room (pictured) that will be available for meetings and other gatherings; a larger and expanded Starbucks Coffee Kiosk; new Floral Shoppe; and self-checkout lanes.
Further showing its commitment to the community, Martin’s will be contributing up to $15,000 to local organizations as part of its Elkhart Community Care Fund. The first contribution recipients were announced at the grand opening of the new store on Oct. 7 and additional nonprofits will be recognized throughout the month.
The store also features Martin’s Groceries to Go online ordering with curbside pickup or delivery service and Rush Pick Up offering curbside pickup of deli and Starbucks items. A unique feature of online ordering is The Fresh Divide, which offers customers the opportunity to choose fresh produce for staffers to slice, dice or portion while they wait.
Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson attending the grand opening in addition to other members of the Elkhart River District planning committee and senior management of SpartanNash.
“We are honored to have been a part of the planning and design phases of the reimagined River District redevelopment project, and we are grateful for our partnerships with the city of Elkhart and all the businesses involved,” said Simeri-McClellan.
The Elkhart store is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
