The Save A Lot store in Carlisle, Kentucky, is back in business after being shut for almost two years due to heavy flood damage.

Located at 2473 Concrete Road in Carlisle, the rebuilt store—owned by the Saver Group—held a grand reopening and ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday. Save A Lot CEO Leon Bergmann joined Saver Group partner Dale Combs and chief operating officer Keith DeFisher and the Nicholas County Chamber of Commerce to mark the occasion. Customers were treated to a cookout in the parking lot, the store will hold daily giveaways to the first 100 customers through Tuesday.

The Save A Lot supermarket is the only grocery store in Nicholas County, in which Carlisle is situated, northeast of Lexington. Saver Group was compelled to close the store in the summer of 2021 following severe flooding triggered by torrential rainfall in the area.

“We are excited to bring the Save A Lot banner back to Carlisle,” Saver Group owner Larry Noe said in a statement. “My business partners, Dale and Wendell Combs and I, understand that residents deserve high-quality food at a value price point that works for them. We think the Save A Lot brand helps us deliver that to our neighbors here, and we can’t wait to have people experience this new option in town.”

In reopening the Carlisle store, Saver Group updated the location to Save A Lot’s latest branding, store design and in-store features.

Save A Lot stores typically run about 16,000 square feet and carry roughly 2,000 SKUs, with an inventory of about 70% private brands. Through an everyday-low-pricing strategy, the limited-assortment, discount grocery banner offers savings of up to 40% over traditional supermarkets on private- and national-brand products, USDA-inspected meat, farm-fresh produce and nonfood items.

“We’re thrilled to have the Saver Group bring back the Carlisle store to their list of hometowns that get to experience, once again, what the Save A Lot brand is all about,” Bergmann stated. “We know the Save A Lot brand brings unmatched value and quality to over 800 communities nationwide and can’t wait for the Carlisle community to experience that again for themselves.”

The reopening marks the second recent Save A Lot return in Kentucky for Campbellsville, Kentucky-based Saver Group. On March 29, the company opened a Save A Lot store in Prestonsburg at 525 Village Drive, taking over the space from a Just Save Foods supermarket that had opened in 2019, at the time replacing a former Save A Lot location. Overall, Saver Group runs 49 stores in Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia.
