Hannaford to Build New Store in Brunswick, N.Y.

The store in New York's Capital Region will create more than 150 jobs and offer customers time-saving features, including a drive-thru pharmacy and Hannaford To Go online ordering.

Food and beverage stores posted modest job gains as general-merchandise stores recovered some of the jobs shed in January.

The retailer said its smaller store, intended to showcase a revamped go-to-market strategy and support a more profitable business, will debut this year in four new-builds and one renovation.

The Chicago-based upscale corner store’s 11th location and first in the nation’s capital brings under-an-hour delivery, local beers and fine wines, chef-prepared meals, curated gifts and more to the Georgetown neighborhood it serves.

The retailer reveals new details of its signature Riverwalk store, including a food hall, beer garden and cartalator, opening March 19.

Remodel of Batavia, N.Y., store part of the retailer’s $40 million capital improvement plan.

The Minneapolis store, which closed in May 2020 following damage from civil unrest in the city, features new innovative departments such as a global foods section and a tortillas station.

“With its diverse neighborhoods, people and undeniable passion for food, there’s no place quite like Philadelphia,” says President Nicholas Bertram, as the retailer prepares construction on its newest store in the city.

The new 27,758-square-foot store in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is the retailer’s sixth in the state and eighth overall.
