Giant Food and Loop Partnership Brings Sustainable Solution to DC-Metro Shoppers

Beginning this fall, some Giant shoppers will be able to purchase everyday food and household products in durable, reusable containers.

New products, retailer services, and innovations took center stage as shoppers, suppliers and industry professionals gathered this week in Minneapolis.

Doug Herrington, a grocery vet who launched AmazonFresh in 2007, will lead retail and logistics for the Seattle-based company.

The grocery giant said the partnership will expand CPG brands' access to in-store shoppers.

The partnership will allow customers to skip the checkout line for a contactless way to shop.

"Every acre that is left unplanted because of a lack of irrigation water is the equivalent of 50,000 salads that will not be available to consumers," California Farm Water Coalition president says.

Chris Finck was appointed to the position, which was vacant following Mark Bushway’s promotion to chief supply chain officer.

St. Louis, Mo.-based discount grocer has appointed Trey Johnson as its new chief merchandising officer, who will report directly to CEO Leon Bergmann.

Total revenues in the 12-week quarter were up, driven in part by higher fuel sales and retail price inflation, according to the retailer.
