Walmart adds parcel stations to speed delivery

The retail giant said the stations, which act like a “mini post office,” will make next-day delivery more efficient, especially during the busy holiday shopping season

The retail giant’s business-to-business channel has a new offering for corporate party planning and employee gifting.

The retail giant on Thursday reported comparable-store sales growth of 4.9% in its U.S. business, driven by strong food sales.

Starting Friday, the retail giant will turn off in-store music, dim the lights and more each day from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. to create a shopping experience that is “a little easier on the eyes and ears.”

The upgrades are part of a two-year, $9 billion renovation of more than 1,400 Walmart locations. New features include larger online grocery pickup and delivery areas, more grab-and-go foods and checkout lanes, and much more.

It’s the retail giant’s third of five planned “next-generation” facilities that combine machine learning with skilled workers to process digital orders more efficiently.

The retail giant is working with General Mills to boost regenerative agriculture and also renewed its partnership with Denali for food waste recycling.

The retail giant said the “next-generation” facility will rely on a mixture of skilled workers and machine learning to double the number of digital orders it can fulfill in a day.

The retail giant said it intends to open the facility in late 2025 in Valdosta as it takes another step towards controlling critical pieces of its food processing infrastructure.
